BASED SOLELY ON COACHES DECISION*** This is based on the, age,, and maturity of each individual. When it is in the best
interest of a swimmer, he/she will be placed in a more challenging training group
by the coach. |

Bronze: The
Bronze group is for entry level swimmers. These workouts will orient the
swimmer to the world of competitive swimming. The swimmers receive instruction
in the fundamentals of the four competitive strokes with basic introduction
to start and turn techniques. Requirements: Swimmers must be at least six years old to enter this group, and be able to swim 25 yards using any stroke. |

Silver: The Silver group will focus on details of the four competitive strokes, refining their strokes to reach a higher level of efficiency and effectiveness. Pacing and interval training will be introduced at this level. This group will demonstrate mechanically efficient technique in each of the four competitive strokes, starts and turns. Positive interaction with peers and goal oriented behavior will be stressed and required before advancement. Attendance at practice and a commitment to swimming is encouraged. Typical workouts will include 1,000 to 2,000 yards per session. Requirements: This group is for the advanced swimmer. Swimmers must be able to swim each of the four competitive strokes. |

Gold: The Gold group is
for more accomplished and motivated age-group swimmers. Although participation in school
sports and other activities is recognized, swimming at this level should be
the athlete’s primary sport.
Training emphasis will focus on perfecting individual technique and
endurance. Swimmers will be
chosen for this group based on technique, training ability and maturity. Swimmers are provided the conditioning
and technical background to prepare for local, and state levels of
competition. Workouts will range
from 2,000 to 3,000 yards per session. Requirements: A swimmer
must be at least 9 years old to enter the Gold group. A
swimmer will be able to perform the set: 8 x 100 freestyle
on |

Junior: Training requirements for the Junior group recommend
the swimmer attend 4 of the 5 practices offered. Participants must
consistently demonstrate goal oriented behavior and strive to reach state
qualifying times. A commitment to year round swimming, including short
and long course seasons is necessary. Swimmers must demonstrate
hydrodynamic efficiency in all four competitive strokes. Dry land
training and goal setting are emphasized in this group. Typical workouts
include 3,000 to 4,000 yards. Requirements: This
Group is for Junior High age swimmers. |

Senior: Training requirements for the Senior group are
very stringent and must be met on a consistent basis. Swimmers should
demonstrate a commitment to their personal success and to the success of the
team with a 100% (no unexcused absences) attendance. Participants must
consistently demonstrate goal oriented behavior and strive to reach high school
varsity membership, state qualifying, and junior national and senior national
level participation. A commitment to year round swimming, including
short and long course seasons is necessary. Swimmers must demonstrate
hydrodynamic efficiency in all four competitive strokes. Dry land
training, psychological skills and goal setting are emphasized in this group.
Typical workouts include 4,000 to 7,000 yards. Requirements: This
Group is for High School age swimmers. Swimmers must be at least 13 years
old. |
